10 RULES OF BUSINESS YOU SHOULD FOLLOW AND WHY

Whether you're new at this or not, in order for your business to succeed you need to know a few things... 

These things are here for a reason. And in fact, they should become a part of you. If you want to build a business the right way - and by "right" I mean authentically, passionately and on your own terms, then you need to follow these ten rules. Live them. Breathe them. Own them.

10 RULES OF BUSINESS YOU SHOULD FOLLOW AND WHY:

 

1. YOU NEED TO TAKE YOUR BUSINESS SERIOUSLY. YES, YOU DO HAVE A REAL BUSINESS.

It's easy to think that because your business is small, you don't really have a business. But you do! Even if you're making a hundred bucks a month right now - that's still a business. Anything where you are trading a product for money on a repeated basis is ... a business! Once you start to realize that, you will develop a different level of respect for what you're doing. Growth and income will automatically follow.

 

2. NEVER WAIT UNTIL SOMETHING IS PERFECT BEFORE YOU START.

If you wait until the perfect moment in your life to begin, or wait until your design is perfect - you'll never begin. It's important to realize that getting something out there is much more beneficial to you than waiting until you feel like it's perfect. You can always tweak and make improvements as you go along.

 

3. IT'S CLICHÉ, BUT YOU NEED TO TRUST YOUR GUT.

If it doesn't feel right and your intuition is telling you not to do it. Then don't do it. Don't follow someone else's path just because you saw that they were successful at it. Follow YOUR path - the one that is right for you.

 

4. KNOW THAT YOU ARE ALREADY AWESOME.

Sometimes it's easy to focus on what we think are flaws about ourselves, forgetting about the things that are already amazing. The fact that you even want to start / or have a business is absolutely incredible!!

You already have the major key traits you need to become successful: passion, creativity, and drive. The rest is stuff that you'll learn along the way. It's only stuff. It doesn't make you more important than you already are. It just helps you to grow. 

 

5. IF YOU'RE LOOKING TO GET RICH QUICK, FIND ANOTHER PATH.

If you think that success is going to happen after two weeks of hard work (and many people do) - you are in for a big surprise. To get to the financial freedom that you're striving for takes time. It might even take a year or two. Or three! That's totally normal. And if you're just in it for the money (and not because you love doing it), you're never going to survive the beginning stage.

 

6. HAPPINESS IS THE ULTIMATE REASON YOU SHOULD BE HERE.

If you let the driving force be your passion, then you will see that success you're looking for! Your goal in business is to be consistent with your plan. Create a solid business plan and marketing strategy and then stick with it. Don't sway two weeks down the road. Keep going. For at least 3-4 months - that's enough time to gauge whether something is working or not.

 

7. IF IT DOESN'T MAKE YOU HAPPY, FIND SOMETHING THAT DOES.

If you start a path and end up disliking it, change it! You do not have to be on one path your whole life, especially if you don't enjoy it. Your success will depend on the love for what you do and consistency in how you do it.

 

8. YOUR COMPETITION IS NOT REALLY YOUR COMPETITION.

It's easy to get focused on your "competition" thinking that they've already done it and therefor you can't. The truth of the matter is, no one can bring to the world what you do with your spin on things. It's just not possible. Be true to what you love, keep striving to get better at it, and people will naturally gravitate towards it.

 

9. MARKETING IS MERELY HOW YOU SHARE YOUR GIFT WITH OTHERS.

Marketing is a funny word. It's easy to get lost in the definition of it forgetting what it truly means. Marketing is merely your message to others on what your products stand for. It doesn't require you to "sell" or be pushy about it. It only requires you to become a little social and make new friends ...and let them know you're making some cool stuff! Once you start to realize that marketing doesn't have to be on a grand scale, or difficult, you will start to get comfortable with doing it.

 

10. IT IS BETTER TO HAVE A SMALL TARGET AUDIENCE, THAN IT IS TO HAVE A LARGER ONE THAT HAS NO INTEREST IN BUYING FROM YOU.

Big numbers don't matter. Customers that are actually interested in what you do are what matter. Don't ever forget this. It's easy to get caught up in the numbers game on social media, thinking that if you had bigger numbers following you, you'd make more money. Not true. Always focus on targeting the right people that are the right audience for you.

 

BONUS RULE #11: YOU ARE ALREADY WORTHY OF A LIFE YOU TRULY WANT. AND IN FACT, YOU ALREADY HAVE IT.

What if today you decided to just switch your thinking and decide that you already have everything you want. You wouldn't be constantly focusing on achieving the next thing and thinking that if you got it you would finally be happy. Instead you would be happy with what you have right now. Everything else would become icing on the cake. The truth of the matter is, your life isn't going to get better if you have more money. It's just going to be different. It's also quite possible that as soon as you start making more money, you'll always just be looking to make even more money, never being satisfied with what you have. Having less lets you simplify, which lets you focus on the smaller more important things. These are things that will bring you the biggest smiles. Live a rich life through the small moments that make life so rich.
